Chauncy Gardner
Chauncy is a lifelong educator with over 25 years of experience in independent schools. Before stepping into the world of college counseling more than a decade ago, she taught French and English and spent several years as a Dean of Students—gaining firsthand insight into what makes students tick (and what makes them roll their eyes). A brief detour into full-time professional writing only reinforced what she already knew; working with students on their college search and applications was too rewarding to be a side gig. Now, she’s fully dedicated to independent college counseling, with writing as the hobby that refuses to be ignored.
What sets Chauncy apart is her ability to truly connect with both students and their parents, helping them navigate the college process in a way that feels authentic and empowering. For students, its about gaining a stronger sense of self, increasing clarity about hopes and dreams for the future, and finding their true, authentic voice. For parents, it’s about managing the anxiety that society reinforces at every turn around the college application process, the ‘should’ and ‘should nots’, and the false message that only admission to one of a short list of extremely selective schools can lead to success and happiness in life.
Ultimately, Chauncy believes that the best college plans aren’t just about rankings and résumés—they’re about aligning with each student’s true strengths, ambitions, and dreams. Yes, the college process can be stressful, but let’s not forget that at its core, it’s an incredible opportunity. And with the right guidance, it can even be an exciting one.
